Ok, so I have been on the Flat Belly Diet for 7 days now and my results are very exciting. I have lost 7 pounds, 1 inch from my waist and 1 inch from my hips! I feel healthy, energetic and happy. Today as I looked at myself naked before entering the shower I could actually see the difference in my belly. I can see that it is flattening and that the "rolls" of fat that hang from my ribcage is flattening as well. It was a lot harder to pinch or grab at it than it normally is.
Today was my day to stock up on foods for week 2 of the flat belly diet so I went to Trader Joe's. I actually got quite a bit of food for my plan and spent $92.00. I was hoping for a much lower grocery cost this week but because I had picked out some recipes from the flat belly diet cookbook that I could prepare meals that my son and I could eat together, the bill was higher. It's not so bad though because otherwise I would have had to spend another $20 or more on his dinners that I would then have to prepare separately. So, I decided to just make some of the recipes from the Flat Belly Diet! Cookbook that he would be sure to like such as "Turkey Sliders" (page 221) and "Rotini With Chicken and broccoli (page 201). I am also going to have him try the "Pineapple & Pork Tacos" which I am sure he will most likely NOT eat but I still want him to experiment with new foods and flavors.
I also started making an excel spreadsheet for my meals this week. I want to some how create this spreadsheet so that I can mix and match meals easily on a chart that I can just hang on my fridge for easy reference. The main reason why I loved the I picked up the Flat Belly Diet! Pocket Guide was because it did lay out all your meals and shopping list for 28 days, so it makes it easy to follow the plan and prepare for your meals ahead of time. I definitely think that the pocket guide is the only piece you need to jump start your eating plan with this diet. You can get by without buying the cookbook, but I am not sorry that I did since there are tons of great recipes worth trying in it.
Tonight I went ahead and made the Rotini with chicken and broccoli. Not only did this dish smell amazing, it also tasted soooo good! I did not even think for one minute that this was any sort of healthy meal. I served it to my sister and my 14 yr old nephew and they both loved it. They said it looked like food they would have expected to see in a fancy restaurant.
I am happy and looking forward to trying out some new recipes this week. For breakfast I will be trying out a Cinnamon Raisin Sandwich (I know you are totally drooling right now) and a Blueberry and Walnut Parfait. I really need to start taking pictures of the foods I prepare because describing them is not doing them justice!
