Yesterday marks my 30th day of following the flat belly diet. Was I absolutely perfect following the plan? No. Of course Thanksgiving ruined my eating for at least 3 days and this past Saturday night I ate pizza, buffalo wings and chocolate cookies.
My weight loss report for the 30 days of the plan is that I lost 9 pounds in 30 days. I think that is pretty good. perhaps the best part for me is that I had struggled and bounced between 195-20o pounds for the months of August, September and October. I am happy to report that following the Flat Belly Diet actually helped me to push past the 195 plateau and I am now 193.8 lbs. I am hoping to hit 189 by Christmas. Of course lower would be nice, I probably could hit 188 by then but I am trying not to put too much pressure on myself.
On Thanksgiving I prepared the zucchini snack cake that has semi sweet chocolate as a frosting on top. It tasted ok. I think it needed a bit more sweetness but it hasn't stopped me from wanting to try out other recipes in the Flat Belly Diet! Cookbook.
I also tried some other really tasty recipes over the past 2 weeks. My 3 favorite dinners to prepare have all included whole wheat pasta with some sort of lean protein and olive oil or canola oil. I made rigatoni with chicken, fresh basil, olives, garlic and broccolli. My son loved this and I even served it to my older sister and my 14 year old nephew and they all said it was very tasty.
Another night, I made a pasta dish with sweet turkey sausage, whole wheat pasta, a low sodium marinara sauce, red bell peppers some olives and canola oil. My son was not a fan of the bell peppers but he did like the rest of the meal.
Another great dinner was a recipe called Cheesy pasta. Man, was it good?! It was so flavorful and my son really liked it. He didn't complain too much about the spinach that was in it either.
I also tried out my first breakfast recipe that was to be baked. It was a cranberry and pecan scone recipe. It was sooo tasty and a nice quick breakfast for mornings when I was on the run. I just froze the slices individually so I can pull them out as needed.
So overall, I am still very happy to report that this diet has not left me feeling deprived or missing out on things. the meals do not feel or taste like diet meals. The best part is I was satisfied and therefore able to stick to a total of 1,600 calories for the day.
After following this eating plan for 30 days, I can see how easily this is not just a diet but a healthy way of eating I can easily continue the rest of my life. If anything, I have learned that an occasional meal of going off a flat belly diet meals isn't going to cause me too much harm. In fact, it will help me stick to it because after eating something bad for you such as greasy pizza, a few hours later I do not feel the same energy I would have felt with a MUFA meal. I would have much rather ate a tasty MUFA meal.
